CMC Center Professor Yutaka Kagawa Gives Keynote Lecture on “Multiple-criteria Decision Making for Reliability Assessment of CMCs” at HT-CMC/10th

CMC Center Professor Yutaka Kagawa gave a keynote lecture entitled “Multiple-criteria Decision Making for Reliability Assessment of CMCs” at HT-CMC/10th (10th International Conference on High Temperature Ceramic Matrix Composites: http://ht-cmc10.event-vert.org) held from September 22nd to 26th in Bordeaux, France. He introduced Japanese research and development of CMCs, new concepts for ensuring CMC reliability, and future goals.
Professor Naohiro Shichijo from the School of Computer Science gave a guest lecture on “Physically Augmented Hybrid Virtual Test: an NDE Methodology for Accelerating CMC Development,” which introduced the Cabinet Office SIP (Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program) Professor Shichijo is involved in, as well as applications of computer science in the field of CMCs. Instructor Chihiro Shibata also gave a lecture on “Automated Structural Recognition and Evaluation of CMCs using Deep Neural Networks,” presenting applications of AI to CMC testing, garnering interest as a new field of research.
Globally, this conference is the largest of its kind in the field of ceramic matrix composites. Held roughly every three years, researchers from all over the world come to participate.
